The body of the stein is a smooth, black glazed, high quality stoneware decorated with a platinum wrap around design. There is a pewter badge in the center featuring a fire helmet and the words "FIRE DEPT", and the sides are decorated with pictures of fire engines. Rows of raised stars decorate the ornamental pewter lid and fixed to the top is an intricately detailed pewter figurine of an old fashioned fire engine.
